Attentive connection

The Attentive connection exports BlueConic profile data to Attentive, creating or updating subscribers with custom attributes. Use it to enrich your Attentive audience with customer data collected in BlueConic, enabling more personalized SMS and email campaigns.

This is a scheduled batch connection. It runs on a configurable schedule and exports only profiles that have changed since the previous run.

Connection details:

  • Goal types: Export

  • Frequency: Batch (scheduled or manual)

Before you begin

  • Confirm your Attentive account is active.

  • Ensure you have the proper Attentive credentials.

  • Ensure you have permissions to create apps or generate API keys in Attentive.

  • Create profile properties in BlueConic as needed to store the data you want to export.

  • Create a BlueConic segment containing the profiles you want to export.

Create an Attentive connection

  1. Click Connections > Add Connection.

  2. Select the Attentive connection from the popup window.

  3. Enter the name and metadata details for the connection.

  4. Click Save.

Authenticate

The connection supports two authentication methods:

OAuth 2.0 (public app)

  1. On the Set up and run page, click the authorization button.

  2. BlueConic handles the token exchange automatically. Once authenticated, the connection appears.

API key (private app)

  1. In Attentive, create a custom (private) app to generate an API key.

  2. Copy the API key and paste it into the connection settings in BlueConic.

Note: The API key is shown only once when created in Attentive. Store it securely before leaving that page.

Configure the export

Each export goal sends profiles from a BlueConic segment to Attentive. You can create multiple export goals to send different segments or data sets.

1. Select a segment

  1. Select the Export profiles from BlueConic goal.

  2. Select a BlueConic segment containing the profiles you want to export. Only identifiable profiles in the segment are sent to Attentive.

2. Transform or filter your data before the export

  1. (Optionally) add one or more data processors to transform or filter your data.

3. Link identifiers

Configure how BlueConic profiles are matched to Attentive subscribers. Match on one or both of the following:

  • Phone — must be in E.164 format (e.g., +12125551234)

  • Email

Note: At least one matching field is required. Profiles without a valid match are skipped.

3. Map profile properties

  1. Select Add Mapping to map BlueConic profile properties to Attentive subscriber fields. Available field types include:

  • Identifier fields: Email, Phone, Client User ID, Shopify ID, Klaviyo ID

  • Standard attribute fields: Name: First Name, Last Name

  • Demographics: Language, Date of Birth, Age, Organization, Title, Website

  • Location: Address 1, Address 2, City, State, Zip, Country, Latitude, Longitude, Region, Timezone

  • Custom attributes: Type a new field name to create a custom attribute. These are sent as custom properties to Attentive.

In addition to profile properties, you can use the following BlueConic data types as mapping sources:

  • Profile ID

  • Segments

  • Static text values

  • Data processor output fields (when a data processor is configured)

4. Subscription settings (optional)

To subscribe exported profiles to an Attentive channel, configure the following:

  • Subscription channel — Choose SMS (TEXT) or Email (EMAIL). Leave set to None to skip subscription.

  • Sign-up source ID — Enter the Attentive sign-up source ID to associate with new subscriptions.

Note: When a subscription channel is selected, include the corresponding identifier in the matching step: email for the Email channel, or phone for the SMS channel.
