Use the Reddit Ads connection to enrich Reddit Ads with BlueConic data. This connection lets you export profile, segment, and event data from BlueConic to Reddit Ads for audience targeting, suppression, measurement, and retargeting. Use server-to-server sync for known contacts—such as CRM or other first-party data—or the Reddit Pixel for real-time signals while visitors browse your channels. This helps you exclude audiences that should not see certain ads and build audiences from your highest‑value profiles, based on your own policies and Reddit’s requirements.
Connection details:
Goal types: Export only
Frequency: Batch (scheduled or manual) and real time
Before you begin
Ensure you have a Reddit Ads business and advertising account and the correct Reddit user permissions to authorize access for ads and conversions data.
Review Reddit’s advertising policies, Custom Audience guidelines, and Conversions API documentation before configuring the connection.
Create BlueConic profile properties to store identifiers or export data as needed.
In practice, you should provide appropriate notice to users, obtain consent where required, and offer a way to opt out of having their data sent from BlueConic to Reddit, in line with your legal and privacy obligations and Reddit’s policies.
Create a Reddit Ads Connection
Click Connections > Add Connection.
Select the Reddit Advertising connection from the popup window.
Enter the name and metadata details for the connection.
Click Save.
Authenticate
On the Set up and run page, under Authentication or Reddit authentication, click Connect with Reddit.
Sign in with a Reddit user that has access to Reddit Ads and select the Reddit business and advertising account you want to use.
For real‑time export, verify that the Reddit Pixel section displays the correct Pixel ID. You can create or find a pixel in Reddit Events Manager.
(Optionally) restrict the channels or URLs where the pixel export runs if you do not want it active everywhere.
If you need multiple Reddit Pixels or ad accounts with different pixel setups, create a separate connection for each configuration.
Note: If you use multiple Reddit Pixels or multiple ad accounts that each need their own pixel configuration, add another instance of the Reddit Advertising connection per pixel/ad account setup, as needed.
Configure export goals
Before using this goal, read Reddit’s documentation on the Conversions API, for example the CAPI direct integration guide.
1. Click Add goal and choose Export data to Reddit events
2. (Optional) Edit the name to describe your export. Click away and the name will update.
1. Select a BlueConic Segment
Select a BlueConic Segment. Only profiles in this segment are exported.
2. Select event date period
Choose which Timeline events to include—for example all events, events since the last run, or events from the last N days (defaults are configurable in the goal).
3. Link identifiers between BlueConic and Reddit
Click Add identifier to map identifiers so Reddit can attribute events to users. Supported mappings include email, phone number, external ID, IP address, user agent, UUID, IDFA (iOS), and AAID (Android), subject to Reddit’s CAPI requirements. Only use identifiers collected with proper consent and in compliance with policy.
4. Export BlueConic Timeline event data to Reddit events
Click Add Mapping to map Timeline event types and properties to Reddit event fields. Some Reddit events or setups may require specific properties (for example action_source or event_source_url in certain cases). Consult Reddit’s CAPI documentation for required and recommended fields for each event type you send.
Create Reddit Custom Audiences
This goal exports BlueConic segments to Reddit Custom Audiences on a schedule.
Select the Create Reddit Custom Audiences goal to add it.
1. Link identifiers between BlueConic and Reddit
Map the BlueConic profile identifiers—email address and/or Mobile Advertising ID (MAID)—to Reddit so that profiles can be matched to Reddit users.
2. Map BlueConic segments to Reddit Custom Audiences
For each segment, select an existing Reddit Custom Audience or enter a new name to create one.
Audience behavior: When a profile leaves a mapped BlueConic segment, subsequent connection runs can remove that user from the corresponding Reddit Custom Audience (cleanup on the Reddit side), so the audience stays aligned with the segment.
Export via a pixel to Reddit
Real-time export sends data from the visitor’s browser through the Reddit Pixel while they browse your channels. This is useful for retargeting recent visitors and can apply to some anonymous profiles, depending on what you map and your privacy settings. When the pixel fires, BlueConic sends profile-related values and segment membership (for segments that exist at the time of the visit). You can then use that data inside Reddit Ads for measurement and audience building, based on Reddit’s tools and policies.
Note: A BlueConic segment can include profiles from before the Reddit Pixel goal existed, but only data sent while the goal is active reaches Reddit. Profiles appear in Reddit audiences only after Reddit receives the relevant events.
1. Select a BlueConic Segment
Select a BlueConic segment. Only profiles in this segment will be exported.Reddit may not accept every profile depending on data quality and policy.
2. Map BlueConic data to Reddit Ads
Click on Add Mapping to select what you want to export to Reddit Ads and add names for the custom variables.
Note: To be able to export interactions viewed, segment membership, and lifecycle stage membership, make sure that the "External analytics" checkboxes are checked in the BlueConic Privacy tab to make this data available in the browser.
3. Settings to push data to Reddit Ads
Set push frequency (for example each page view, only when values change, once per visit, or when permission level changes). Optionally add a trigger event. Set an Event name so you can recognize events in Reddit Ads reporting and tools.
Notes on using the pixel-based method
First-party segments built in BlueConic (behavior, consent, CRM sync, and so on) can drive what you send to Reddit in real time.
Pixel export depends on visits to channels where the connection is active; batch export does not.
Use Reddit Advertising real-time goals with BlueConic Lifecycles
Real-time Reddit Pixel goals can participate in BlueConic Lifecycles (as touchpoints or with stage-related options), similar to other advertising connections:
Send lifecycle stage or membership signals to Reddit Ads where supported by your mapping.
Restrict exports by lifecycle stage when configured in the goal.
Use stage thresholds to limit how often profiles receive certain touchpoints.
See BlueConic documentation on Lifecycles and Connections in Lifecycles for details.
Run the connection
Activate the goal
Turn the connection on and Save.
Check the goal you want to activate.
The green arrow indicates the active direction for the connection.
Click Run now for a manual batch run, or use the schedule control to set frequency (daily, weekly, and so on—per BlueConic scheduling options).
Confirm OK to save the schedule.
Note: Batch Run history reflects batch exports (for example Timeline event export and custom audience sync). Real-time pixel traffic is not summarized the same way in batch run history.
Troubleshoot the connection
Authentication or ad account
If BlueConic reports that it cannot connect to Reddit, verify Connect with Reddit completed successfully, your user still has access to the business and advertising account, and that at least one Reddit Ads ad account is available to the authenticated user.
If you are warned that no pixel was found for the ad account, create a Reddit Pixel in Reddit Ads Events Manager (see Reddit Events Manager) before relying on real-time export.
If the Pixel ID does not match the selected ad account, clear the pixel field and re-authenticate or pick the correct ad account so the expected pixel can be applied.
General
Disable ad blockers while configuring the connection (also noted in the connection description in BlueConic).
If problems persist after checking the above, contact BlueConic Support.
Next steps
Add the connection to an Objective to enforce consent and privacy requirements.
