BlueConic plugins let you extend the functionality of the BlueConic platform. BlueConic offers pluggable options in many areas, including connections, AI Workbench notebooks, dialogues, insights, etc., allowing you to customize BlueConic to your needs.
Adding a plugin to BlueConic
BlueConic has a range of plugins offered in the Plugins gallery. Select Settings > Plugins to open the Plugins page. You can update or add a plugin on this page.

Creating your own BlueConic custom plugins
As a developer, you can also develop and deploy your own custom plugins. For tutorials on developing your own custom plugins, see Getting Started.
Adding a plugin
You can add a plugin from the Settings > Plugins page by clicking the Add plugin button. This opens a lightbox window with several options to add a new plugin: via the Plugin Gallery, by uploading a Zip file, or by registering an external URL.
Via the plugin gallery
The plugin gallery contains all available BlueConic plugins. You can filter the gallery by searching for a specific name, or by selecting a category of plugin type.
Plugins that are not installed contain an Add plugin button. When you click this button, the plugin is automatically installed.
Uploading a Zip File
In addition the standard plugins BlueConic provides, it is also possible to add custom-built plugins to the system. These can be uploaded as a Zip file. To learn more about creating your own custom plugins, see Packaging a BlueConic plugin.
Registering an external URL
Another option to install a custom plugin is to host it on a web server and register the URL where this plugin is hosted. To learn more about creating custom plugins, see: Packaging a BlueConic plugin.
Updating a plugin
Plugins are actively being maintained and the Gallery will automatically keep an eye on this. Plugins are automatically updated when a new version is released. Note that custom plugins you create or upload via zip files will not. Select the "Updates" search filter to see all plugins that have a newer version available.
Click the Update plugin button to install the update.
When you have selected a plugin, the following details are shown in the center of your screen:
|The internal identifier for the plugin.
|The type of plugin. Types include "action", "listener", "insight", "globallistener", "connection", "toolbar", "notification", "profile", "group", "lifecycle", "notebook", "dataprocessor", "timelineeventtype", and "parameter".
|The version number of the plugin. Next to the version of the plugin you will find an icon representing the support level on the plugin:
|Specifies whether the plugin supports SSL.
|Specifies the URL where the plugin is installed. If the plugin was added from a ZIP file, the relative path to it is shown.
|Specifies the URL of the index file. The index file also contains references to other versions of the plugin.

|If the plugin was added through a Zip file, a download to this Zip file is offered here.
Deleting a plugin
If you click on the dropdown menu of the Save button, you see the option "Delete". Choosing this option deletes the selected plugin from your tenant.
In the right-hand sidebar, the "related items" box is displayed. It shows the other objects in BlueConic that are directly related to the selected plugin.
Plugins can have the following types of related items:
- Profile properties: The profile properties that are defined by this plugin.
- Dialogues: Shows the dialogues and variants that are based on this plugin.
- Dashboards: The dashboards where insights based on this plugin appear.
- Listeners: Shows the listeners that are based on this plugin.
- Connections: Shows the connections that are based on this plugin.
- Notebooks: Shows the AI Workbench notebooks based on this plugin.
- Timeline event types: Shows the Timeline event types that are based on this plugin.
