What: The Unified ID 2.0 Connection allows you to retrieve the Unified IDs (UID) for known profiles in order to set up marketing campaigns without using PII data or third-party cookies. Currently, The Trade Desk connection is the only supported operator.
About BlueConic: The BlueConic Customer Data Platform harnesses the data required to power the recognition of an individual at each interaction, and then synchronizes their intent across the marketing ecosystem.
Why: Storing Unified ID 2.0s or UIDs for customers is valuable for enabling enhanced personalization, efficient ad targeting, and cross-device tracking, leading to improved marketing effectiveness and customer engagement. It also helps in complying with privacy regulations and handling data more responsibly.
Adding a Unified ID 2.0 Connection
- Click Connections in the navigation bar.
- Click Add Connection.
- A pop-up window appears. Check the Show all box. Enter "Unified ID 2.0" in the Search bar.
Click Unified ID 2.0 Connection.
- The Unified ID 2.0 Connection page opens. You can expand or collapse metadata fields (favorite, labels, and description) by clicking the gray chevron at the top of the page.
- In the metadata section you can choose whether to get email notifications when the connection runs or fails to run.
- Save your settings.
Configuring a Unified ID 2.0 Connection
Start by authenticating your connection in the Set up and run page of your connection. Setup instructions differ depending on how you plan to integrate your data using this connection.
Authenticating a Unified ID 2.0 connection
The Unified ID 2.0 connection is used with The Trade Desk as an operator. To authenticate your connection, reach out to your The Trade Desk account team for a client and secret key that can be used for your Unified ID 2.0 credentials.
Creating a Retrieve Unified ID 2.0s (hashed values) goal
Add a goal to retrieve the hashed value for selected PII properties from your The Trade Desk environment and store this into BlueConic profiles by clicking the Add goal button and selecting Retrieve Unified ID 2.0s (hashed values). Follow the steps in the goal to configure it.

Select a BlueConic segment
Select a segment you want to retrieve the Unified ID 2.0s for. -
Import the Unified IDs 2.0 for selected profile properties
Select the identifiers you want to receive Unified ID 2.0s for and the profile properties where they should be stored.
Note: You can only send a profile property that contains a single email address (not profile properties used to store multiple email addresses). -
Run the connection
Go to Set up and run to schedule the connection or to run it manually.
Running the Unified ID 2.0 connection
Tip: Make sure you have added a goal before running the connection and saved your configuration.
- Turn the Unified ID 2.0 connection on and click the Save button to save your settings.
- Go to the Set up and run page. Scroll down to the Run history section.
- To start the export manually, click the Run now button.
- To schedule the export for a future date, click the Settings icon. Select a scheduling option from the drop-down list:
- Number of times per day
- Days of the week
- Day of the month
- Weekday of the month
Set a time for the export.
Click OK.
Connection Status
Once you've set up and saved your connection, the icon at the top will reflect the status of the connection.
There is an arrow going from Unified ID 2.0 to BlueConic, showing that data is being imported into BlueConic. When the arrow is green, the connection is ready to be used.
Data exchange shows you the total number of unique profiles that have been imported via the connection. Note that this shows the number of unique profiles available for import. Also, if the same profile is exported multiple times, it is counted as 1.
Privacy management
Connections can be added to Objectives, allowing for privacy management of the information that is being picked up. A connection will only process the profiles of visitors who have consented to at least one of the objectives that the connection is linked to.
