Higher Logic Connection

Connections_Higher-Logic-2.pngWhat: The Higher Logic Connection (formerly called Real Magnet) allows you to enrich Higher Logic with data from BlueConic. This connection supports batch export.

About BlueConic: BlueConic is a Customer Data Platform that harnesses the data required to power the recognition of an individual at each interaction, and then synchronizes their intent across the marketing ecosystem. Learn more about the BlueConic customer data platform.

Why: By exchanging data between BlueConic and Higher Logic, you can share first-party customer data from BlueConic profiles to Higher Logic.

Creating a Higher Logic Connection

  1. Click Connections in the BlueConic navigation bar.
  2. Click Add Connection.

  3. A pop-up window appears. Enter "Higher Logic" in the Search bar.
  4. Click Higher Logic Connection.
    The Higher Logic Connection page opens. You can expand or collapse the metadata fields at the top of the page (favorite, labels, and description) by clicking the gray chevron.
  5. In the metadata section you can choose whether to get email notifications when the connection runs or fails to run.
  6. Enter a name for the connection at the top of the page, and Save your settings.

Setting up the connection

  1. Click Set up and run in the Authentication section in the left panel. 
  2. Enter your API username and API password credentials in the Authentication section of the Set up and run page.

Data exchange: Once the connection has run, this shows the total number of unique profiles that have been exported via the connection. Note that these are unique profiles. If the same profile is exported multiple times, it is counted as 1.

Run history: This table appears after you save the connection. Here you can schedule the connection to run on certain days, at certain times. See Scheduling connections for details.

To make the connection work, you have to add at least one export goal, save your settings, and switch the connection on. In the export goal, you specify how data from BlueConic should be linked and mapped to Higher Logic contacts.

Exporting data from BlueConic to Higher Logic

In the left-hand panel, click Add goal and choose Export goal and then follow the steps laid out in the export goal.

  1. Select a BlueConic segment to export profile data from.
    In the top right-hand corner, the number of profiles available for the export appears.
  2. Select Higher Logic groups to export to.
    Choose at least one Higher Logic list to export profile data to.
  3. Link identifiers between BlueConic and Higher Logic.
    If no match is found for a BlueConic profile, a new Higher Logic contact is created.

  4. Map the BlueConic data you want to export to the corresponding Higher Logic fields.

    Click Add mapping to add a new mapping rule, or click Add multiple mappings to add a number of rules for properties.
    Note that the logo before the entry field is a clickable menu where you can select the type of data you want to export: the BlueConic profile identifier of the profile, the associated segments (click the text to select only a couple instead of all), a profile property, all viewed interactions, permission level, or a text value.

  5. Run the connection.

Running the Higher Logic connection to BlueConic

Once you Save your settings and turn the connection On at the top of the page, you can run the connection. The green arrow at the top of the page turns green to show the connection has been authenticated and configured correctly.

Open the Set up and run page to run the connection. The Run history table appears after you save the connection. You can click Run now or use the settings to schedule the connection to run on certain days, at certain times. See Scheduling connections for details.

Privacy management

Connections can be added to Objectives, allowing for privacy management of the information that is being picked up. A connection will only process the profiles of visitors who have consented to at least one of the objectives that the connection is linked to.
