Welcome to the December product newsletter! We’re frequently asked if there are any options for more informal, casual ways to connect with other customers and the BlueConic team to learn and get inspired by great use cases and best practices. We heard you, and we have set up two channels to do this:

  • A BlueConic Users Slack account that you can join
  • A BlueConic User Community group on LinkedIn

Join the conversation!

After the awesome interest and participation in the GDPR webinar that we did in November, we’ve heard loud and clear from you that there is an appetite for this kind of content. In 2018, we’ll do many more customer-focused webinars (and other content types) so if you have 1) ideas/requests for what you want us to do and/or 2) an interest in presenting your company’s BlueConic story, please let us know by hitting reply! The more we know from you, the more relevant the content will be.

New security model for support

Security is crucial when working with customer data and BlueConic ensures that only you, the customer, determines who can have access to your data. Therefore our Customer Success Managers do not have access to your secure environment when it’s created. In the past, we’ve   asked you to create a login for each individual Customer Success Manager in order to provide support for an issue. No more! You can now set access rights to your BlueConic environment for Customer Success Manager(s).

You can now:

  • Configure access rights for us by configuring the BlueConic Support role.
  • Grant or deny access for our Custom Success Managers as a BlueConic user in that role.

Editing individual profiles

How to edit and inspect individual customer profile data and find engagment scores using BlueConic

Last January, we introduced the profile viewer – affectionately known as “baseball cards” – which is now a platform favorite. Since the launch, we’ve gotten numerous requests to be able to edit an individual profile. Well, now you can! There is also a new role-based permission setting called ‘May edit profiles’ which (you guessed it) allows you to actually edit a profile.

Editing a profile is useful not only for testing and debugging, but also to make BlueConic a CRM “light” solution. This feature will also be part of the GDPR toolset we will be introducing soon, specifically for ‘right for rectification,’ where all visitors have the right to request a change or correction to data the brand has about them.

Logout listener

Another feature needed specifically for GDPR, but useful generally as well, is a logout listener. This listener can start a new (empty) profile the moment a user explicitly logs out on your website(s).

External trackers enhancements

We enhanced the external tracker with two new features:

  • You can now add optionally add a date to an external tracker, which means that you can now track the date and time that link in your newsletter was clicked.
  • You can now also use tracking pixels on 3rd party channels where BlueConic is not running - for example in ads or in sponsored articles on another website. BlueConic stores profile data in a cookie which is merged into a profile when a visitor hits a BlueConic-enabled website.

Event Trigger Plugin

A popular custom plugin created by the Experts team and used a lot by customers is being promoted to an official plugin and available in the Plugin Gallery! Meet, the Event Trigger plugin. With this listener, you can have a wider variety of options to configure what triggers an event. That event can consequently trigger dialogues to show up. You can have events triggered when a page contains specific text, when the visitor clicked something, or when Javascript says so. Powerful stuff!

All the little things

As always, we also introduced a variety of smaller features:

  • In 2017 Optimizely introduced a whole new platform called Optimizely X. To prevent confusion, we have now created two connections; the Optimizely and the Optimizely X connection
  • In the plugin overview, there are two new columns: support-level (custom or standard) and the version of the plugin, so now you can quickly see what’s custom and what’s not.

A sneak peek of features to come:

It’s the holiday season so there’s more to get excited about!

  • Behind the scenes, we are still working hard on adding features that support GDPR compliance when the deadline (May 2018) is near (but you should be getting ready; that day will be here before you know it). Check out the GDPR webinar for more info on what’s coming!
  • We are working on BlueConic Firehose capabilities; we will create streaming connections to AWS Kinesis, Google Pub/Sub and Azure Event Hub. Let us know if you are interested and we can give you early access to this!
  • We are creating a generic data layer connection. We are also updating the existing Google Tag Manager and creating an Adobe Target connection, which both use data layers.
