Adding this data processor to a connection
All connections that support data processors have a step on its export goal page to add data processors (e.g., "Modify your data before the export"). In that step, use the search box to add "Generate recommendations"; once added, it appears in a numbered list of data processors activated for that connection.

Configuring this data processor
The Generate recommendations data processor requires some configuration to ensure that BlueConic exports the data as specified. To make these configurations, click the cogwheel icon next to "Generate recommendations" in the numbered list of data processors. This opens a window with the following settings:
- Collector: Choose a product or content collector in your tenant to use for recommendations.
-
Items: Configure the algorithm and filters that determine how and when an item is recommended.
- Enable fallback (optional): Define a fallback set. If the other recommendation sets do not produce enough recommendation items, the fallback will fill the empty spots.
- Item data to include: Select the metadata fields you want to be made available for mapping.
-
Advanced settings (optional):
- Export recommended items as separate rows: By default, the recommended items are exported in a single row where each item's metadata is exported under separate fields. Enabling this option will export each recommended item as a separate row.
- Click OK to save your settings.
Sample scenario for using this data processor
As an alternative to open-time email recommendations, this processor can be used to push recommendations and their attributes to an external system, like an email service provider (ESP). Then, on the ESP side, the data can be used in an email template to deliver personalized recommendations.

By following the configuration above, you can now select the different attributes in the mapping step.
