Salesforce DMP (Krux) Connection

How to connect BlueConic customer segments with Salesforce DMP What: The Salesforce DMP connection (formerly Krux) allows BlueConic customers to feed segment data or profile information to Salesforce DMP.

About BlueConic: The BlueConic Customer Data Platform harnesses the data required to power the recognition of an individual at each interaction, and then synchronizes their intent across the marketing ecosystem.

Why: By sending segmentation and profile property data to your advertising platform, you can more effectively reach targeted audiences with digital ads. You can stop targeting entire segments of visitors who are not a good fit for your advertising campaigns, or create new look-alike audiences based on data from your highest performing known and anonymous users.

Configuring the connection

About the Salesforce DMP Connection

Setting up the connection is partly done in Salesforce DMP, partly in BlueConic. When the connection is active, BlueConic will add a data layer to your web pages called BlueConicDataLayer.

Enter the name of this data layer, and expected items to export, to a Salesforce DMP Data Specification Template. This template can be required via Salesforce DMP. Once Salesforce DMP has configured your account, you can add and remove items to export into Salesforce DMP via the menu item "Export data into Salesforce DMP" at any time.

Adding a Salesforce DMP connection

  1. Click Connections in the Navigation bar.
  2. Click Add Connection.
  3. A pop-up window appears. Check the Show all box and enter "Salesforce" in the Search bar.
  4. Click Salesforce DMP (Krux) connection.
The Salesforce DMP connection page opens. You can expand or collapse metadata fields (favorite, labels, and description) by clicking the chevron at the top of the page.
  5. In the metadata section you can choose whether to get email notifications when the connection runs or fails to run.
  6. Enter a name for your connection and Save your settings.

Setting up the connection

In the Set up and run page, enter your Salesforce DMP account credentials to authenticate the connection.

  1. For batch export: Enter your Salesforce DMP access key ID, secret access key, and client name. You get these credentials from Salesforce DMP.

Data exchange shows the total number of unique profiles that have been exported via the connection. Note that these are unique profiles - if the same profile is exported multiple times, it counts as 1.

To make the connection work, you have to add at least one export goal, switch the connection on, and save your settings. In the export goal you specify how Salesforce DMP data should be mapped to BlueConic data.

Exporting data into Salesforce DMP

Click the Add goal button to add an export goal.

  1. Select a BlueConic segment to export profile data from.
In the top right-hand corner, the number of profiles available for the export appears. How to export BlueConic customer segments to the Salesforce DMP Krux
This number shows how many profiles meet the conditions for the selected segment (for example, they have visited your site and gave required consent for an objective) and therefore are available for the export. BlueConic tries to export only the profiles that have changed since the last export. This number of profiles exported may be lower than the number displayed here.
  2. Map BlueConic data to Salesforce DMP.
To map information into Salesforce DMP, select a BlueConic profile property (or one of the options below) then enter the name of the related Salesforce DMP field. Do not include profile properties that contain personally identifiable information (such as name, address, email, or digital identity).

An arrow runs from BlueConic to Salesforce DMP, signifying the direction of the data export. When the arrow is green, the connection is ready to be used.

Open the Set up and run page to run the connection. The Run history table appears after you save the connection. You can click Run now or use the settings to schedule the connection to run on certain days, at certain times. See Scheduling connections for details.

Privacy management

Connections can be added to Objectives, allowing for privacy management of the information that is being picked up. A connection will only process the profiles of visitors who have consented to at least one of the objectives that the connection is linked to.

Do not export profile properties to Salesforce DMP that contain personally identifiable information, such as a name, an address, an email, or a digital identity.
